Podgagement offers a custom XML feed with raw and formatted data, giving you the power to automate things. Here's how to get your podcast reviews automated through Zapier.
Set Up Zapier
- Log into your My Podcasts page and open the podcast you want to integrate.
- Go to the “Integrations” page.
- Copy the “Reviews RSS feed” URL (not the “Integrate with Slack” command) by simply clicking/tapping on it.
- Log into Zapier and start making a new Zap.
- Add “RSS by Zapier” as the trigger and “New Item in Feed” as the trigger event.
- Click “Continue.”
- Paste your feed URL into the “Feed URL” field. You won't have to do anything with the other fields.
- Click “Continue.”
- Click “Test Trigger.”
- If Zapier successfully pulls in a few of the latest reviews from the feed, then you can select any of the sample results for testing and click “Continue.” If you get an error, please ensure you pasted the proper feed URL.”
Your reviews feed is now connected! Next, you can start doing something with the reviews.
Filter the reviews (optional)
We can filter the feed to only those podcast reviews you want. For example, you might want to auto-tweet only your 4- and 5-star reviews, or maybe you want to forward only reviews from a particular country or platform.
- In the “Action” step, add “Filter by Zapier.”
- Configure “Only continue if…” as you see fit. For example:
- Only 4- and 5-star reviews: field = “Raw Rating,” condition = “(Number) Greater Than,” value = “3” (which will mean anything greater than 3 stars, but not including 3 stars)
- Only reviews from Canada or the United States of America: field = “Raw Country Code,” condition = “(Text) Is in,” value = “US,CA”
- Add more conditions with “+ And” or “+ Or.” “And” will continue only if the review matches all the different “and” conditions (such as only reviews that are both 5-star and from Canada). “Or” will continue only if the review matches any of the different “or” conditions (such as any reviews that are 5-star or any reviews from Canada, regardless of rating).
- Click continue to test if your selected test review would pass the filter.
- Click the “+” button below “Close” to add another action.
Do something with the reviews
In this “Action” step, you can add whatever thing you want Zapier to do with your (optionally filtered) reviews. Here are some examples.
Tweet your new reviews
Twitter is limited to 280 characters, which is usually not enough to share an entire podcast review. Thus, you might want to focus on only the title, country, rating, shareable review URL, or your LovethePodcast.com or FollowthePodcast.com page.
- In the “Action” step, add “Twitter” as the action and “Create Tweet” as the action event.
- Click “Continue.”
- Select your Twitter account or follow Zapier's process to connect a new account.
- Click “Continue.”
- Populate the Tweet as you like. Here's an example (replace
{{text like this}}
with the proper field or custom text:- Message to thank any review (even negative ones): Thank you, {{raw author}}, for giving our podcast an honest review on {{raw platform}}!
- Message to show off 5-star reviews: Check out this awesome review {{raw author}} gave our podcast! “{{raw title}} {{raw stars}} {{link}}”
- Message to show off where your reviews come from: We just got a podcast review from {{raw country}}! Follow the podcast so you won't miss the fun! {{your FollowthePodcast.com URL}}
- When you're satisfied with your message (and any additional options), click “Continue.”
- Test the process to ensure everything works! Click “Test & Review” or “Test & Continue” to run the full test, including publishing the Tweet. Or, click “Skip Test” to not test the process.
- Add any additional action steps you want, such as auto-posting to other social networks.
- When you're finished, turn on the Zap to have it begin the automation with your next new review.
Share new reviews to your Facebook Page.
Unlike Twitter, Facebook posts can support the full content of your reviews, thus giving you more flexibility to share what you want.
